Noise

The space has two rooms with shared facilities and is aimed at people looking for a quiet break. If you are renting the entire space, you will have a private front door and exclusive access to the area, including the kitchen and patio garden.

The house is set back from the road and so traffic noise is fairly low.

However, please be aware of these potential noise concerns:

  • If you are renting out only one room, other guests may have dogs, children, and other sources of noise, though we do ask that loud music is not played.
  • The train line runs directly behind the house and you can hear the trains passing by every ten minutes or so during the day.
  • There is a hotel/pub behind the property. It's very rare we are troubled by noise from there, but it does happen two or three times a year.
  • The house adjoins a private home and there may be a small amount of noise from TV, music, and voices, especially young children.
  • The footpath to the front of the house is used by many dogs in the area.
  • The patio garden directly adjoins the family veranda, with no barrier. There may be children playing on the veranda.
  • On the last Sunday of each month, we run a community litter pick. Between 10am and 1pm there may be crowds of people on the family veranda.
  • Between May and August, a funfair operates during the day at a nearby park. Although you can't hear much of the fair from outside the house itself (and nothing from inside), you do need to walk though or actively bypass this fair to walk between the house and the town centre.

Light

The windows in the bedrooms have curtains, but these are not blackout blinds.

Keeping your own company

We normally try and meet all our guests on arrival, so we show you the space and answer any questions.

However, if you’d prefer to make the most of your alone time, just let us know when you book that you would rather self check in. We can just leave you a key and let you get on with it.

Floor plans

Our floor plans can help you get a better idea of how the space works.
